Most new and used devices in the following product categories are eligible for the Guaranteed Buyback® service: laptop computers, desktop computers, flat-screen TVs, MP3 Players, LCD monitors, printers, GPS devices, Blu-Ray DVD players.
The Term Length for a Guaranteed Buyback® plan is two years, which means that you can return your device anytime during the two year term. You will receive a higher Buyback Amount if you return the device sooner in the term, which allows you the flexibility to upgrade at a great price during the entire two year term.
The Service Fee is a one-time fee to purchase a Guaranteed Buyback® plan. There are no annual or monthly fees for using Guaranteed Buyback® plans.
Once we receive and test your device, we will mail you your buyback amount. Depending on where you purchased your Guaranteed Buyback® plan, your buyback amount will be in the form of either a check or a gift card.
The device must be sent to us in at least "Good Condition" to receive the full Buyback Amount. Devices deemed to be in "Poor Condition" will be accepted, but your Buyback Amount will be reduced by 50%. Devices returned in "Substantially Impaired" condition will be considered a Rejected Device, and we will not refund your Service Fee or pay your Buyback Amount.
A Guaranteed Buyback® plan is still valid for 30 days after the Expiration Date, but a Late Penalty will apply.
You retain the right keep your device. You should be aware, however, that we cannot refund the Service Fee of the buyback.
We intend to erase all information on the device using US Department of Defense-grade software overwrite, magnetic degaussing, and/or physically drilling holes in a hard drive before reselling or recycling the device. However, we are not liable for any lost or stolen information, so we recommend that you erase all sensitive information from your device before sending. Computer hard drives can be erased before sending using the free program Kill Disk to erase your data.
We allow a free limited extension to the Expiration Date for warranty repairs that occur during the Expiration Date. You will need to notify us prior to the Expiration Date, provide us with paperwork indicating the date of the repairs, and send the device to us promptly after receiving it back from the warranty repair. Most manufacturers and retailers have warranties associated with your device. If your device is still under warranty, you can often have them replace a defective device at no charge. Just let us know that you are receiving a new device from the manufacturer and we will note the new serial number. TechForward highly recommends that you take care of any problems with the device through the manufacturer before returning the device to us to avoid having us reduce your Buyback Amount for a Poor Condition Penalty when the problems could have been repaired under warranty. We will strive to get you the buyback amount as soon as possible after we receive your device, however, according to the Guaranteed Buyback® Agreement, we have up to 60 days to mail you your Payment Amount.
If your device is stolen, we unfortunately cannot honor your Guaranteed Buyback® plan, as you are not able to send us the device, and we will keep the Service Fee.
Yes, a Guaranteed Buyback® plan is the perfect product for you if you believe that a new technology will be coming out soon that will make you want to upgrade. At any point during the Buyback Term, you can send us your device in at least Good Condition and receive the Buyback Amount.
You should consult your tax advisor on your specific tax liabilities. If you live outside of the state of California, you will not owe California sales tax on the sale of the device, however, you may owe taxes in your home state. If you live in California you should not owe a California sales tax if you are selling no more than two devices, or other pieces of personal property, in a 12 month period as California considers this an occasional sale. However, if you live in California and are purchasing multiple buyback agreements and selling the products during the Guaranteed Buyback® Term, then you may owe sales taxes because these sales may no longer qualify as occasional sales.
